Tango no Sekku(端午の節句)

In Japan, we're in the latter half of the Golden Week.

May 5th of lunar calender is one of the "Go-Sekku(Five seasonal festivals)" called "Tango no Sekku(端午の節句)".

"Tango no Sekku" is the Boy's Festival to celebrate the healthy growth of boys.

We celebrate the healthy growth of girls on the "Momo no Sekku" which was introduced in our blog on March.

On "Tango no Sekku", warrior dolls and miniature suits of armor are displayed inside the home and carp-shaped streamers called "Koinobori" are swimming in the wind outside.

We have Furoshiki which patterns are armored warrior doll and "Koinobori".

"Koinobori" symbolizes the wish that boys in the family will grow to be as strong and courageous as the carp.
